As the Chinese New Year holiday comes to a close, the sales team at Shanghai Phoenix Alloy—a leading source factory specializing in nickel alloys and stainless steel—has returned with renewed energy and a sharpened focus: deepening product knowledge to serve you better.

On our first day back, we didn't just open the office—we opened the factory floor.

From Melt to Finished Product: A Full Production Walk through

We believe that great service starts with deep understanding. That's why our entire sales team spent the day immersed in every stage of our manufacturing process—learning firsthand how our high-performance alloys are made.

1. Melting Shop – The Birth of an Alloy
The journey began at the melting shop, where our team witnessed how raw materials are transformed under precise temperatures and strict control. Every alloy's purity and performance start here.

2. VIM + ESR: The Gold Standard in Premium Melting

A major highlight of the training was our team's deep dive into the combination of Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) and Electro-Slag Refining (ESR) —two advanced technologies that work together to deliver unmatched alloy quality from the very beginning.

VIM (Vacuum Induction Melting) operates under strict vacuum conditions to remove harmful gases and impurities while precisely controlling chemical composition. It is where purity begins.

ESR (Electro-Slag Refining) takes the process further by secondary refining, enhancing alloy cleanliness, structural uniformity, and mechanical integrity.

Together, VIM + ESR form the industry gold standard for producing high-performance nickel alloys such as Inconel, Hastelloy, and Monel. By combining VIM's precision melting with ESR's deep refining, we ensure quality is built in from the very first melt—not just inspected at the end.

Our production manager walked the team through the entire VIM + ESR workflow, explaining how this powerful combination enables us to meet the demanding requirements of aerospace, energy, and other critical industries.

3. Wire, Bar & Strip Workshops – Mastering the Craft
The team then toured our:

Wire Workshop – learning about drawing processes that ensure precision diameter and surface finish.

Bar Workshop – exploring heat treatment and peeling processes that define final mechanical properties and dimensional accuracy.

Strip Workshop – observing rolling techniques that achieve consistent thickness and flatness.

4. In-House Laboratory – Where Quality Is Verified
The final stop was our independent testing laboratory. Here, our team learned how we verify mechanical properties through tensile testing, hardness measurement, and microstructural analysis. Because when we deliver material, we deliver data-backed reliability.
